Empower Your Future

Join a dynamic community that connects aspiring legal minds with seasoned mentors. Our initiative is dedicated to enhancing your journey in international law.

THE INITIATIVE

The path into international law is not a straight line, and no one walks it alone. Whether you are a law student exploring the field for the first time, an early-career professional finding your footing, or an established lawyer ready to pivot or go deeper, this community was built with you in mind.

The BASIL Virtual Mentorship Initiative is a program of the Blacks of the American Society of International Law, in collaboration with Konseye: The Mentorship Network, designed to expand pathways into international law for students and early-career professionals through small-group mentoring, themed events, and a global community dedicated to increasing access to opportunities in the legal profession.

What we ask in return is simple. Come curious. Come open. Come ready to engage, to ask the questions you have been holding onto, and to learn alongside others walking similar paths. Mentorship is a two-way exchange, and the more you bring to it, the more you take from it.

The mentors are here. The sessions are scheduled. The doors are open. Your part is to step through.

Cultivating the conversations and networks that shape careers.

Networking

Our mentors come from across the international law field and across the globe. From academia and private practice to government, international organizations, NGOs, and beyond, they bring varied paths, perspectives, and expertise. Browse their profiles, choose the sessions that fit your interests, and learn from those who have walked the road ahead of you.

Group Mentorship Sessions

Mentorship works best when the room is small enough for real conversation. Each session brings together one mentor and three to five mentees around a focused theme, creating space for honest questions, candid answers, and the kind of learning that happens both from the mentor and from one another.
